And for Jim Magilton's appointment, they played it absolutely perfectly. When the news broke of his signing, Magilton was already in flight on his way to Melbourne. The time between fans learning of the appointment and his presentation on Saturday afternoon left no vacuum to be filled by the cynics to talk down Magilton, his recent record and the decision to bring him to Australia. By the end of that media conference, the man's enthusiasm and typical British pro confidence had charmed the local journalists and the word "impressive" seemed to be repeated by every pundit asked their opinion.The club now has a great 'look' about it, with ex-QPR, Ipswich Town manager Magilton at the helm, a man of the international experience of Ron Smith lined up as technical chief, the legend Muscat also in the dugout and then the internationals Kewell, Hernandez and Thompson running around the pitch. The board has taken a lot of deserved heat over their initial decision making, but take a step back now and look at what they've assembled. On paper, it's bloody impressive for an A-League club.

For all the trophies and great players he produced, the clique's big criticism of Ernie Merrick was his Scottish brogue! How on earth can these morons sleep knowing Magilton is in a job with his accent?!!

IF IT WAS MILLER-DINHO THEY'D BE ALL TALKING ABOUT HIMLiam Miller was immense for Perth Glory against Brisbane Roar. If he was wearing another shirt or his name was 'Millerdinho', the local soccer media would be hailing him as the best import to be seen in the A-League. Again, like Robbie Fowler, Fergie deserves great credit for bringing the Irishman to Australia. And he's going to get better. He now has six months in the country, his fitness is coming together and he can last the full 90 at full pelt. You have to believe the best is still to come from the former Celtic and Manchester United midfielder.

AGOSTINO NOT SITTING AROUNDGreat to see Paul Agostino taking a youth coaching job at 1860 Munich. The former Adelaide United striker returned to Munich last year and was soon approached by his old club about getting involved. Agostino is already talking about the top job at 1860 - it sounds like he's serious about a career in coaching. Brilliant to see a high-profile Aussie backing himself by coaching in Europe.

VIDOSIC SHOWING WHY FRANZ WAS PUMPING HIM UPDario Vidosic's goal at Melbourne Heart was the Adelaide man at his best. The pace, desire and no little strength shown were the qualities that had Franz Beckenbauer asking after him when he started his Nurnberg career in such thrilling fashion. Ned Zelic is right when he says there is a weakness with him physically. But you fancy, if Vidosic can put some extra kilos on his frame, Europe will again be calling for him.

VICTORY FANS SHOWED MUSCAT WHAT THEY THOUGHTAbsolutely delighted for Muscat winning on Saturday. For all the rubbish claimed by the pundits, the home fans made clear to Muscat when he first appeared from the tunnel what they thought of him. He must have been floating given the response before kickoff. And his system succeeded. Getting Kewell in midfield and on the ball as much as possible worked a treat - and the double screen of Brebner and Broxham in front of the back four also gave Melbourne a more solid look. It was still a struggle at times, but Muscat can be proud of a win for a team that has been kicked from pillar to post in the media all season.
