Former Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo believes Cristiano Ronaldo will be happy to have seen his contract terminated by Manchester United.

United acted after Ronaldo's critical interview a fortnight ago.

Karagumruk coach Pirlo worked with Ronaldo at Juve and he said: "Ronaldo has always been under pressure and will always have it, and that is not a problem for him. I don't think it puts pressure on Portugal either.

"Although he had not done the interview, the media had still asked about Manchester United during the World Cup.

"I think it was that he just wanted to get it done, like pulling out his tooth, and now he will be even more motivated than before."
