Barcelona defender Gerard Pique is backing their pursuit of PSG defender Thiago Silva. Barca have tabled a €32 million offer for the Brazil international.

Pique told Sport: "Thiago Silva would be welcome. Great players are always welcome at the Camp Nou and a player of his qualities would work perfectly.

"We are already strong as we are: Bartra did a very good Under 21 championship, 'Puyi' if the preseason he starts well, we know his quality, physically is a bull, and 'Masche' is a player who always is valuable.

"The bad luck has been injuries, but if we continue with the same it will not be a problem."
