Philadelphia Union in talks to retain ex-Dortmund, Mainz striker Casey

Philadelphia Union head coach Jim Curtin has revealed that the club is in talks to bring Conor Casey back.

The 33-year old forward came out of contract at the end of the 2014 MLS season but could return in 2015 after he withdrew from Friday's Re-Entry Draft to negotiate a new deal with the Union.

"There's no contract in place right now," Curtin said. "But we spoke on the phone and he wants to be in Philadelphia.

"I'm a loyal guy and I'm loyal to someone that wants to be here. We'll have to restructure the contract. But he's a guy that pulled himself out because he only wants to play for Philadelphia.

"He's still a veteran guy that contributes goals. At every part of his career, he's scored goals."

Former Borussia Dortmund, Hannover, Karslruhe, Mainz and Toronto FC striker Casey has scored 18 goals in 54 appearances for Philly since joining from Colorado Rapids at the end of 2012.
