Philadelphia Union pull off coup by landing Wijnaldum

MLS outfit Philadelphia Union have completed a major coup by securing the services of Giliano Wijnaldum, the younger brother of Liverpool star Georginio.

Giliano Wijnaldum started off his career in promising fashion with the likes of AZ Alkmaar and FC Groningen but after having failed to come good on his promise, the left-back was recently released by German outfit VfL Bochum.

Now Wijnaldum will be looking to revive his career in a completely new environment as it can be confirmed that the 24-year-old has been signed by Major League Soccer side the Union.

Union sporting director Earnie Stewart confirmed the signing with the following statement on the club's official website: "We're pleased to welcome Giliano to Philadelphia Union and are excited about the talent he adds to our defensive corps.

"As a young player who I have worked with before in the Netherlands, I know first hand the potential he brings to our club. We are eager to integrate him within the squad and believe he has a bright future with the Union."
