Philadelphia Union make 10 expansion picks

Incoming MLS franchise Philadelphia Union yesterday selected their first 10 players for their inaugural playing roster.

The 2009 Expansion Draft allowed the Union to make selections out of 200 unprotected players from rival clubs and the following are the 10 players who will wear the navy blue and gold in 2010 including the two key players Alejandro Moreno and Shavar Thomas.

Alejandro Moreno - (from Columbus Crew) 'A Venezuelan international, just completed his eighth year in MLS, has scored 43 regular season goals in his career, and scored in MLS Cup 2008 for the Columbus Crew.'

Shavar Thomas - (from Chivas USA) 'Thomas has seven seasons under his belt as a centerback, represents Jamaica internationally, and was part of Chivas USA's stingy defense in 2009 that allowed just 31 goals in 30 games.'

Jordan Harvey - 25-year old defender from Colorado RapidsAndrew Jacobson - 24-year old midfielder from DC UnitedBrad Knighton - 24-year old goalkeeper from New England RevolutionSebastien Le Toux - 25-year old forward from Sounders FC Stefani Miglioranzi - 32-year old midfielder from LA GalaxyDavid Myrie - 21-year old defender from Chicago FireShea Salinas - 23-year old midfielder from San Jose EarthquakesNick Zimmerman - 22-year old midfielder New York Red Bulls
