Aston Villa defender Curtis Davies has revealed Stiliyan Petrov is a big influence on the club's atmosphere.

He told Villa's website: "Stan Petrov gets on well with everyone. He is a superb professional but he's also a good laugh and is very pleasant with people. He's always happy to help the lads out if they've got a problem.

"He is certainly not controversial and let's put it this way, I don't think he would get many votes for the chop if we were in Big Brother.

"He's got a dry sense of humour. You don't know how to take him when you first meet him, but when you get used to him, you realise what he's all about.

"Morale at Villa is superb and the banter is good. The lads are looking forward to the Odense game and we are all hoping to do well in the coming season."
