France World Cup winner Emmanuel Petit has urged Leo Messi to leave PSG.

Like Messi, Petit played for Barcelona and PSG - and was left disappointed by the boos from Paris fans for the Argentine on the weekend.

Petit snapped on RMC: “Messi's whistles are an insult to football and if I can give Leo some advice, let him leave this club.

"I hear many critics say that Messi walks on the pitch. But all those of us who have followed Messi since he was Messi, even in Barça's best days, also walked. Messi is the master of the orchestra, he directs and it is the other players, around him, who have to make the effort.

"Argentina was world champion surrounding Messi with warriors, willing to die and donate their blood for Messi. Or when I see Barça, everyone running around the teachers.

"It reminds me of when I played with Zidane, Zizou wasn't going to tell me to run to defend, I had to do that for him to lead the orchestra."

He also said: "It is not a football club, but a club pre-withdrawal even if you are 20 years old. No player has ever progressed at PSG, that's not Messi's fault."
