Perth Glory midfielder Edwards eager to become Reading regular

Ryan Edwards' parent club Reading are continuing to keep tabs on the young midfielder.

The 20-year old is on loan with A-League club Perth Glory but has only made one appearance since returning to Western Australia after representing the Australian side at the Asian Football Confederation U22 championships in Oman.

Edwards will return to the English Championship at the end of the A-League season and his agent Daniel Berman insists he will be doing everything he can to force his way into the Royals squad next season despite his lack of game time with the Glory.

"He is knuckling down and is still young," Berman told au.fourtfourtwo.com.

"He's got a huge future, although it's fair to state that his season may be a short one with Glory. His contribution was significant when he was getting a game.

"He's got the athleticism and quality to play in Europe and (he's) still developing.

"Reading monitor his games, including the Oman tournament. Ryan will be looking to excel in pre-season. That's the situation."

Edwards made 10 appearances under former Glory head coach Alistair Edwards but has featured just once since Kenny Lowe replaced his father in December.
