Perth Glory coach Mitchell confident things will turn

Perth Glory coach Dave Mitchell is confident the results of the first two A-League rounds will turn for the better.

The new-look Glory, who have been widely tipped to improve greatly this season, have gone down in both of their opening matches so far (Adelaide United 1-0 and Wellington Phoenix 2-1) but Mitchell believes there is no cause for concern.

"The boys are bitterly disappointed because they know we've got a good squad and we've just got to get the juggernaut going," Mitchell said.

"We're going to start it going down the highway and once we do I think we'll feel confident and I think we'll do well."

Mitchell said he feared a slow start due to injuries but was disappointed the A-League had given them two away fixtures to kick off proceedings.

"I was always concerned that (starting with two losses) could be a possibility because we didn't have a full squad (during pre-season) and we were training with nine or 10 players," he added.

"All the players weren't in there and then when we had the two away games to start the season - that's what I was banging on about.

"People said 'oh well you've got a good side', but we weren't cohesive enough yet.

"So that was our biggest fear.

"But look, we've copped the two losses and we've just got to rectify things this weekend and get the three points, get a big crowd there and get on our way."

The Glory hosts Newcastle Jets at Members Equity Stadium this Sunday.
