Pepe Mel is delighted taking charge of Almeria.

Mel has replaced Gaizka Garitano at winless Almeria and has a deal to June.

The veteran said at his presentation: "Times in football are not chosen. When Joao called me I only saw the team of footballers that I was going to have in a magnificent club and a magnificent city. I demand the maximum from myself and that is first.

"My hope is the ten games that remain so that you know me. I set short-term objectives: in 48 hours we compete against Las Palmas and we have to enjoy our work. Football is to be enjoyed. The mission is that match, nothing more. We don't have to go any further."

Mel also took the opportunity to outline his first plans and what he wants from his team.

"I was at home watching the games and now I am the main protagonist. The football that I have in my head is very interesting for Almería. We are going to compete with other things; each coach has his brushstrokes. We start from scratch.

"The players don't know who is going to play on Sunday. Everyone will participate in ten games. In this force that we need, the role of the fans is also important. What they are doing is not easy. We are indebted to them."

The coach believes that his team has suffered a lot this season and that now is the time to start enjoying their football: "One of the reasons why I am sitting here is that the team needs to enjoy it. I have been a firefighter many times to others teams. One of the things that is focusing our attention is that they forget about the previous days. We are only concerned with what is coming. Permanence is very complicated. Even if we win everything, we may not get there."
