Pennant determined to make most of Stoke second chance

Jermaine Pennant is determined to make the most of his new chance at Stoke City.

The winger won a new deal at the start of this season, thanks to incoming manager Mark Hughes.

"I always wanted to stay. I was speaking to my agent and we had options with clubs in the Premier League and abroad.

"I said my first choice was to stay at Stoke if there was an opportunity.

"We thought with Tony (Pulis) it probably wouldn't be, but when he left it kind of opened the doors for me. So it was a case of saying let's get on to Stoke to see if we could work something out.

"The board wanted it otherwise they wouldn't have let Mark (Hughes) decide about it. Mark wanted it so I think it was a win, win for everyone."
