Pellegrini: I never feared for my Man City future

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini accepts that club owners are not happy with the recently-completed season but claims he has no reason to be insecure about his job.

The Chilean met with chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak on Sunday and appeared confident that he would be given the chance to see out the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium despite going without a trophy in 2014/15.

"I've never had any doubts about my future throughout the whole season," he said. "It was absolutely clear what the owners think.

"They were not happy - exactly the same as me and the players. But they are not owners who think if we don't win the title you must go.

"Of course we must analyse the season, you must try to arrange a lot of things, but I am always talking with them.

"When you read in the news that you are sacked the rumours have to come from somewhere.

"But I have a great communication with them and I don't have any doubts even in the worst part of the season.

"They always give me assurances.

"Not just because we have finished winning."
