Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini defended his multi-millionaire flops after their embarrassing defeat at Burnley.
George Boyd struck the only goal of the game with a sweet, low left-foot half-volley from the edge of the area just after the hour.
Pellegrini said: "Football is not only money, it is an important thing but in the Premier League anyone can beat another team.
"If you are talking about money, I don't understand your reasons.
"If you are talking about football reasons, maybe we could have created more chances.
"It was a normal performance, I don't think we played very bad. We created three or four chances, Burnley had I think just one and scored a beautiful goal.
"But we need to create more chances, I don't think we created the amount of chances we need to score goals."
