Pearson delighted Leicester safe

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson was pleased to secure Premier League safety after their stalemate with Sunderland.

The point the Foxes collected from their trip to Wearside took their tally to 19 from a possible 24, and 38 in total, to assure safety with a game to spare.

Pearson said: "There's no point in me trying to flower over it, I was relieved. It's not been an easy season. There have been highlights and plenty of lowlights as well, let's be honest.

"But we have managed to stay together throughout it, and that's the important thing for us. Even when there have been question marks over, whether it be my position or the integrity of certain aspects of the football club, throughout it all, we have just kept a pretty low profile - apart from one or two occasions.

"But I don't think that's a bad thing either."
