Roman Pavlyuchenko is being urged to quit Tottenham to save his career.
The striker's former Spartak Moscow coach Oleg Romantsev said: "I was never against my players' moves into European premier leagues - but for me the most important thing was that they went to the right teams for them.
"I wish Pavlyuchenko had talked to me before his move to London. It is going to be very hard for him at Tottenham. That team is not for him.
"They play a powerhouse sort of football with a lot of crosses and tussling for the ball. I don't mean they play badly - such football is liked by many people. But Pavlyuchenko is more used to a technical game."
He added: "Tottenham also have three other classy forwards who are better adapted to such football. I'm worried about Roman but still hope he's going to make it back into the starting line-up."
