Roman Pavlyuchenko is becoming increasingly isolated at Tottenham.
Croatia pair Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric have accused him of being lazy by not learning more since his September arrival from Spartak Moscow.
Spartak keeper Stipe Pletikosa confronted the Russian when his team was in London to play Spurs in the UEFA Cup.
Pletikosa said he told Pavlyuchenko: "Your team-mates say that after four months in London you still do not speak any English? This is no good - don't be lazy and start learning the language properly."
The showdown was revealed by Russian paper Sovetski Sport.
And Modric said: "It's probably because we can't talk to each other properly that we still do not interact 100 per cent."
