Pardew praises beauty of hard-working Crystal Palace team

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has lauded his side for their hard work and fighting spirit in the 2-1 win over Stoke City on Saturday.

Lee Chung-Yong scored the winning goal in the 88th minute to earn three points for the Eagles at the Britannia Stadium after Bojan Krkic's penalty in the 76th minute had cancelled out Connor Wickham's earlier spot kick.

The win meant that the London side climbed to the sixth spot in the league table, level on points with Tottenham and Manchester United.

"It was far from an under-performing Stoke side; it was a very good Stoke side we had to play that had a lot of technical talent," Pardew said.

"Although the first half was tight, the second half, after we got the lead, Stoke really showed their flair and we had to really dig in at that point.

"That's the beauty of this team, it has great spirit about it and great determination to really dig in. That was very important."
