Pardew: Newcastle players upset for Marveaux

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is upset for Sylvain Marveaux over his knee injury.

Marveaux is set to travel to America, where he will undergo an operation on his troublesome groin injury at the renowned Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado.

Pardew told the Evening Chronicle: "There's real, real sympathy within the group for Sylvain.

"He's going to need an operation, so we think he's going to be certainly out for three months. You know how hard he's had to work to get where he's at. It's a setback for him."
