Pardew feeling comfortable in role of Newcastle manager

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew feels part of the furniture at St James's Park after finally settling down to being boss over the Magpies. Pardew was an unpopular appointment following the controversial departure of Chris Hughton in December, but is now relishing life on Tyneside and games against the likes of leaders Manchester United.

"It (my appetite) was whetted way before then," he said.

"But the more and more I take games in and get to know the place and understand how it works, the more familiar I am becoming with it and the more natural the surroundings are becoming to me.

"I am obviously very proud to be the Newcastle manager and I enjoy it immensely."

Pardew will aim to secure a top-half finish in the last four games before hoping to build on that next term.

"Of course, it helps that," he said.

"You can start talking to people and they can look at us and realistically think we are going to be in the Premier League, which helps."
