Alan Pardew and Graham Carr are determined to stay with Newcastle United.

The arrival of Joe Kinnear as new director of football has cast doubt over the futures of both men.

The Journal says after a meeting between Pardew and Kinnear in London yesterday in order to clarify the latter's precise responsibilities, Pardew is apparently willing to wait and see how their relationship pans out in practice.

Chief scout Carr too is understood to be relaxed about the prospect of working with Kinnear, who had a brief spell as Magpies manager in the 2008-09 season until a heart attack forced him to stand down.
