Panathinaikos are pushing to close a deal for Newcastle United midfielder Mehdi Abeid.
The Evening Chronicle says the Greek outfit have put together an offer of around £300,000 for the 21-year-old, who enjoyed a superb season on loan with them.
Alan Pardew hinted last month Abeid could have been the one Newcastle player who had been out on loan to be given another chance to make it at St James' Park.
However, Panathinaikos are confident a deal can be pushed through over the next few days.
