Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini is delighted with the capture of Livorno goalkeeper Marco Amelia.

"We wanted a goalkeeper who would be able to compete with Alberto Fontana for the No 1 shirt and we have found one," Zamparini enthused.

"Amelia was our primary objective and we have succeeded thanks to sporting director Rino Foschi.

"Now we can relax for a while because Amelia is still young. We will sell Federico Agliardi because he has the right to play first-team football elsewhere."
