Crystal Palace are moving to trump West Bromwich Albion for Hoffenheim striker Anthony Modeste.
Modeste has been touted to Premier League clubs this month and his management team have received some bites.
The Times says Palace could look to steal a march by placing a bid this week.
Modeste, who had a brief spell in England with Blackburn Rovers, is understood to be keen on a move back to the Premier League, although it is likely to take a bid of around £5m to tempt Hoffenheim into a sale.
