Crystal Palace veteran Kevin Phillips is backing Marouane Chamakh to rediscover his best form this season.
Chamakh hopes to put behind him a disastrous spell at Arsenal with his move to Selhurst Park.
"Arsene Wenger has got some quality strikers there, and sometimes when players go to clubs it just isn't the right club for them," Phillips told the Croydon Advertiser.
"I've watched him play live a couple of times when I did some media work and he was very good.
"Sometimes you go a little bit stale, you don't get your opportunities, perhaps you don't work as hard and you need a fresh challenge.
"Hopefully coming here now is a fresh start, he's going to be playing, so we hope he brings goals to the team.
"We're going to need them to survive in the Premier League and he's certainly got the quality.
"Now it's time for him to stand up and step up to show the Palace supporters and the players what he's made of."
