Crystal Palace are closing in on Aston Villa striker Darren Bent.
The Express & Star says Palace are reportedly trying to hijack Fulham's move for Bent. The Premier League newboys are keen despite signing Marouane Chamakh from Arsenal.
Reports suggest they have agreed personal terms with Bent, who earns around £60,000-a-week, but are hoping Villa lower their £6m asking price before the transfer window shuts in three weeks.
Fulham are the only team to make a tentative offer for Bent who is not part of manager Paul Lambert's plans.
