Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish hopes to swoop for Sunderland striker Connor Wickham.
The People says Parish is ready to push the button on an £8million move for Wickham - now that Tony Pulis has quit.
The Eagles chairman hopes to agree a fee with Gus Poyet for the forward, who helped keep Sunderland up last season.
Parish has been lobbying to buy Wickham throughout the summer but former boss Pulis vetoed the swoop.
Now Parish will press ahead and put director of football Iain Moody on the case.
