Palace keeper Speroni drawing inspiration from Schwarzer

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni is drawing inspiration from Chelsea veteran Mark Schwarzer.

Speroni has entered new contract talks with Palace this week.

"At the moment I feel like I could play forever." he said. "I was talking to George Wood [goalkeeping coach] the other day and asked him when he felt it was time for him to quit.

"He said his fitness was great but the big thing is your mentality. When you wake up in the morning and think you don't want to go training anymore, don't want to travel anymore.

"I can manage my body and that is why you see Brad Friedel and Mark Schwarzer still play over the age of 40. Schwarzer came in at a very important stage of the season and did a great job for Chelsea.

"It's a matter of how long you want to do it rather then how long you are capable. In most cases that I know they end up missing it when they quit."
