Palace boss Holloway says Zaha can handle Man Utd hype

Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway is confident Wilfried Zaha can handle the hype around his move to Manchester United.

Holloway is keen to stress his Palace side are not a one-man team and believes that rising England star Zaha has only hit the big time thanks to the help of his colleagues.

The Palace chief said: "Wilf's talents will win games in the top flight and he will help Manchester United to win matches with their new manager next season.

"Palace are a very good team when Wilf is in it, but without the other players then he wouldn't look half as good.

"His strength is not always winning the ball back so unless someone wins it for him and gives it to him, he can't do too much. This season I have heard people only talking about one of my players and it is a bit grating.

"It is going to need every one of my men to win this play-off final and Wilf just needs to be left alone to play, because his talent is so fresh and exhilarating.

"There will be times next Monday when some of the things he does will be wrong, but I don't care about that because I believe he might do enough right to get us the result we need.

"What sums football up is a little conversation I had with him the other day. His girlfriend told him she was watching the second leg of the Brighton game on TV and someone said on the commentary that Wilf was overrated.

"Then five minutes later he scored two goals and suddenly he was world-class.

"Nothing sums up football more than that. Football is very transient but Wilf's talent will be here to stay."
