Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway has explained leaving summer signings Stephen Dobbie and Florian Marange off his Premier League squad list.
He wrote in the Sunday Mirror: "Stephen Dobbie, a £650,000 arrival from Brighton, helped us win promotion in the first place when he came to Selhurst Park on loan last season.
"And Frenchman Florian Marange signed for me on a one-year deal just 23 days ago after being released by Bordeaux.
"But I had no idea when we did the deals for Stephen and Florian that we would be able to conduct so much business in the final few days of the window.
"Because of time constraints, we weren't able to do the kind of due diligence on new players as the rest of the division. I learned during my one season in the Premier League with Blackpool that there is no room in the top-flight for sentiment."
