Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis has branded speculation linking Newcastle counterpart Alan Pardew with the Eagles job as "disrespectful". Pardew spent four years as a player at Palace from 1987-91, helping the Eagles gain promotion to the old First Division in 1989 before featuring in the FA Cup final and replay to Manchester United the year afterwards.
Following the recent headbutt incident with David Meyler, there has been speculation Pardew could leave the Magpies, with former club Palace seen as a destination.
But Pulis has dismissed such talk, telling the London Evening Standard: "That is really disrespectful to Newcastle. Alan is the manager of Newcastle Football Club and has a number of years remaining on his contract."
