P2) Radamel Falcao: Colombia's greatest rally to defend the Man Utd battler

As Radamel Falcao has battled through his first season in England, Colombia's greatest - both past and present - have rallied to his support.

There may be doubts about the Colombian inside Manchester United, but for his fellow countrymen, El Tigre, is still No1.

Carlos Bacca (Sevilla): "He is calm, despite Louis van Gaal not believing in him. In Colombia we all believe in him. Everyone knows his value. We all know what he's worth. He can look forward to the Copa America."

Carlos Valderrama (Colombian legend): "With Monaco he was a world star. With Colombia the same. Then he was injured and missed the World Cup. He's just getting back. We should all wait for him. Soon, with several games under his belt, he'll return to his best and prove himself at Manchester United."

David Ospina (Arsenal): "I am absolutely convinced and can say with all confidence that Falcao is a player with a winning attitude, he has a strong mentality and is a great professional. He has demonstrated that in every team he has ever played in. When he has stability and continuity, he will come to the forefront and he is going to be an amazing player for Manchester United."

James Rodriguez (Real Madrid): "He has to stay calm and he's mentally strong. We all have our critics, but he's going to get through this, he'll be fine and will start scoring goals to shut all their mouths."

Tino Asprilla (Newcastle United legend): "If Van Gaal continues, Falcao will leave. I think the relationship is broken and Falcao knows that the coach does not want him. I remember when I came to England, coach Kevin Keegan wanted me, supported me a lot. In this case, it is obvious that Louis Van Gaal does not trust Falcao."

Arnoldo Iguarán (Colombian legend): "I'm glad it's him who overtakes me as (record) goal scorer. He's a player I admire for his work, his people skills and discipline. When I first saw him play, I said 'this will be the one who beats my record'. The truth is he deserves it. He is the flagship of Colombian football."

Silvano Espindola (former agent): "I'm not going to say he is happy because he is not. We talked many times, and cried together. It is not an easy situation because every player wants to play, and every goalscorer wants to score goals, that is normal."

Jose Peckerman (Colombia coach): "It's a difficult situation for him. But he has been tested mentally in the past and will continue striving to be the player we all know he is. I have faith that this is temporary. And he does too. He will succeed - I have no doubt."

Faryd Mondragon (Colombian legend): "At the Copa America, Falcao will again be Colombia's Falcao. I have absolutely no doubts. Falcao will again be our El Tigre."

Rene Higuita (Colombian legend): "The critics will not worry Falcao. As famous footballers, we live in the midst of the media spotlight. If Falcao scores a lot of goals, he will be the best, and if not, he would immediately be branded as the worst. Falcao has proved that he is a good player and he does not have to do anything to re-prove it again today.'
