Ozil putting Arsenal before himself - ‘I am not important’

Mesut Ozil says his contract situation is not at all important in the current climate of the Arsenal Football Club.

The German playmaker's future at the Emirates continues to be questioned with him yet to sign a new deal and the final 12 months of his contract fast approaching.

But Ozil insists anything regarding his coming or going on North London is on the back-burner as the Gunners try valiantly to save their flailing season under Arsene Wenger and fight for a top-four finish.

"I think at the moment it would be wrong to think about," he said.

"At the moment the team are having a difficult spell and at this stage I am not important and no other player is important.

"What is important is the club. We've got aims that we want to meet this season.

"So there is still lots to play for. We want to qualify desperately for the Champions League.

"So we will talk in the summer and we'll clear things then. At the moment, all that is important is Arsenal and not me or any other player, it is just the club."
