Dejphon Chansiri, the principal owner and chairman of English ChampionshipSheffield Wednesday, will act as the main shirt sponsor for the team for the 2015/16 season, reports www.sportspromedia.com/. Instead of a traditional commercial sponsorship deal, Wednesday's home and away shirts will be emblazoned with Chansiri's family name for the duration of the upcoming campaign.

Paul Aldridge, the club's vice-Charmian, said: "We had discussions with a range of high profile companies - some at home and some overseas - but the commitment from Mr Chansiri was overwhelming and the decisive factor."

Aldridge added that the move "underlines the desire of Mr Chansiri to take Sheffield Wednesday to the top tier of English football."

Chansiri himself commented: "To see the Chansiri name on our shirts for the first time will be an immensely proud moment and underline how we are part of Sheffield Wednesday and the city of Sheffield. Serving as principal shirt sponsor also illustrates to the whole of the football world our total support for this club."

The Chansiri name will replace the previous sponsor, "Azerbaijan - Land of Fire".
