Michael Owen is expected to wait until the summer before holding contract talks with Newcastle United.
The Guardian says Owen is unlikely to enter into talks regarding the extension of his contract at Newcastle until the end of the season, despite reports suggesting he will be offered a new three-year deal in the next few weeks.
Owen has been linked with a move from St James' Park since his arrival from Real Madrid two years ago, with Manchester City the latest club rumoured to be ready to make a bid in January. By that time Owen will have just 18 months left on his current contract.
