Owen deal has been great for Stoke - Pulis

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis believes the signing of Michael Owen has been a good one for the club.

The 33-year old, who has called his retirement for the end of the season, arrived at the Britannia Stadium from Manchester United in September and despite scoring one goal has been a decent pick up according to Pulis.

"Not at all. He has been fantastic around the place," said Pulis when asked if he regretted taking Owen.

"He has been a great signing - if you look at it financially, it has been a great deal for the football club in lots of respects.

"Michael was really unlucky at the beginning of the season, picking up those couple of injuries.

"If he had got through that and pushed on, then we might be talking about different things now. But it is what has happened to Michael over the past few years."
