Over 11,000 tickets sold for Beckham's clash with Kewell

David Beckham's next trip to Australia is gaining plenty of exposure just two days after tickets were released for sale. In 48 hours, more than 11,000 tickets have been purchased for LA Galaxy's meeting with Melbourne Victory at Etihad Stadium on December 6.

A spokesperson for tour organisers Tribal Sports Management said that Galaxy president Tom Payne would soon be on Australian shores to oversee things in the build-up to the clash which will feature Beckham, Robbie Keane and Landon Donovan up against the likes of Harry Kewell and Archie Thompson.

"There are some exciting announcements to follow shortly coupled with the visit next week from LA Galaxy President Tom Payne," said the TSM spokesperson.

"Victory are expecting their Chairman's Dinner to attract lots of interest given many members are choosing to have their Christmas parties at Etihad that night," added the spokesperson.

"We're very happy with ticket sales to date. All corporate suites have sold but there are still lots of dining packages available."

The Galaxy's other two visits down under have been very successful with a trip to Sydney a few years ago followed by last summer's visit to Newcastle to take on the Jets and it seems as though this year's meeting with two-time A-League champions the Victory will also be a hit.
