Ostersunds signing Ravel Morrison admits he was close to joining Rangers last month.

Morrison has signed for the Swedes from Lazio.

The former Manchester United youth teamer told The Times: "He (Steven Gerrard) is a legend in football and he was willing to sit down and have a really good conversation.

“Certain old-school managers wouldn't have done that. My agent spoke to another manager, in the Championship, who just said 'No, he won't fit in here.'

“My agent asked him to do some research, speak to people who have worked with me.

“The manager came back and said: 'OK, but he doesn't work hard enough, doesn't track back.'

"'Have you actually seen him play?' 'Not recently.' And it's just excuses.

“Too many managers say 'no' because they have a bad image of me from things from ten years ago."
