Osasuna announce departure of captain Roberto Torres

Osasuna have announced the early release of Roberto Torres.

The 33 year-old attacking midfielder has six months on his current deal to run.

And Osasuna have declared Torres will be released from his contract on January 1.

The club announced: "Torres, 33, will end his Osasuna career as the seventh player with the most appearances in club history. He arrived at the club as a 16-year-old from Txantrea. Upon arrival, the midfielder spent five seasons with Osasuna Promesas, where his performances were noticed, and he eventually was called to the first team. The midfielder made his top-tier debut on December 11, 2011, against Málaga at La Rosaleda.

"Through the years, the Arre native performances made him a fan favorite. He remained loyal to the club, even in the entity's worst years, and was a key player on the team's promotions in 2016 & 2019; in both seasons, he dished 12 assists.

"After helping Osasuna return to the First Division, Torres was pivotal for the rojillos in the three following campaigns scoring 16 goals in his 108 appearances. Despite not seeing much action in the current campaign, he remained the team's captain and an essential asset in the locker room. His leadership has been vital for the team in the first months of the current season.

"Roberto Torres might leave Club Atlético Osasuna, but his legacy and illustrious career will always be remembered by his teammates, the board of directors, front office staff, and fans."
