Republic of Ireland boss Martin O'Neill plans to cap Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish in next month's friendly against England.
Grealish also qualifies for England.
The Mail on Sunday says although born in Solihull, Grealish has represented Ireland at Youth and Under 21 level on the basis his grandparents are Irish.
Yet under FIFA rules Grealish could still declare for England and the FA have been trying to persuade the 19-year-old to consider his options.
And even if Grealish played against England the door could still be open because it's a friendly.
