Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill insists he wanted to keep Steven Davis at Villa Park.

The midfielder joined Fulham last week and O'Neill said: "Yes I was sad to see Steven Davis go. Despite what was said, it was his own choice at the end of it all.

"It was his own choice and that is always made up of how many times you're playing in the side and he was quite sad to leave Villa."
