Omonia manager Lennon keen to see Sir Alex as he prepares for Man Utd showdown

Omonia manager Neil Lennon is excited facing Manchester United in the Europa League.

United will play Omonia next in the Europa League group stage (on October 6th).

Former Celtic boss Lennon told the Scottish Sun: “I've not had any messages yet from Sir Alex, but I'm sure I'll be in touch with him and get a glass of wine with him at some stage.

"It would be great to see Sir Alex in Manchester. He's been a huge source of support for me over the years.

"I would love to catch up with him. Sir Alex once visited me at the Celtic training ground for a couple of hours on a Sunday morning. It was just brilliant to talk football and life with him. For me and for my staff, it was manna from heaven.

"I picked up a lot of stuff from Sir Alex. Two hours with him is like 20 years with other people. He has always been positive towards me. Even after I left Celtic, he came to see me at Bolton and over the years we have stayed in touch. Sir Alex went out of his way to contact me. Even on days of Champions League games he would give me advice about the opposition. He's an unbelievable man.

“Sir Alex won't want us beating Manchester United. I think if we got a point he would be happy, providing they also then qualify. It's going to be amazing to play United. A lot of the Cypriot boys are Manchester United supporters or fans of the Premier League.

“So it will be a real privilege for them — especially to go and play at Old Trafford. Manchester United are just huge in Cyprus."
