Oldham Athletic have moved for former Blackpool striker Nile Ranger.
Ranger is available after falling out with Blackpool management before Christmas.
The People says Latics boss Lee Johnson met with the former Newcastle and Southampton forward at a hotel in Kent last Friday - before Oldham's clash with Gillingham the next day.
Ranger is a talent but his career has been plagued by controversy, from his time at Southampton as a schoolboy to his days with Newcastle, Barnsley, Sheffield Wednesday, Swindon and, most recently, Blackpool.
