Odemwingie eyeing Stoke return before season's end

Stoke City striker Peter Odemwingie has stated that he could make a return to action before the end of the current campaign.

?Odemwingie suffered a nasty knee ligament injury against Manchester City back in August last year and he has been sidelined since.

?Due to the serious nature of the injury, it was suspected that the Nigerian would be ruled out for at least the remainder of the campaign.

?However, Odemwingie has revealed that he is nearing an earlier than anticipated recovery and that a return to the pitch for the final few games of the season is a possibility.

?The 33-year old said: "I am approaching the six-month mark which is normally the minimum recovery time but I don't feel under pressure to rush back because the team is doing really well.

?"But hopefully, the way things are going at the moment, I will take part in one or two games this season - and if I can score it will probably be the most special goal of my career.

?"I will be coming back from a place where maybe some people thought it would be impossible to come back from considering my age. It will be emotional not just to score but to wear a Stoke City shirt again."?
