Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco has won a spot on Sporting Kansas City's reserve team and has been made an honorary member of the club.
It is not a contract as such but more of a training agreement which will see the NFL star further his development in the MLS following his recent trial.
Head coach Peter Vermes said it was a good outcome for both Ochocinco and the Kansas City club.
"This is a positive outcome for everyone involved," said Vermes. "It's been great to have Chad here and we'll welcome him back when he's ready to return.
"He's been a true professional throughout his tryout, he has fit right in with the other players and he has been a great presence in the locker room. He has definitely earned the right to be an honorary member of the squad.
"For our sport, it's great because I think there's a lot of people out there who question how hard it is to play this game and it's very, very difficult."
Ochocino posted on his Twitter page that he was delighted with the arrangement.
"This is so awesome I'm an honorary member of SportingKC and can train with the reserve team as long as I want," Ochocinco tweeted. "Totally awesome ILuvKC."
