Gabriel Obertan admits he's found Newcastle United fans more supportive than those at Manchester United.
The French winger joined Toon in the summer.
"I was having to prove myself every week at Manchester United," he admits to the Sunday Sun.
"Because I went as a young player I found that the crowd would wait to see what you could do. It can be difficult in those circumstances if you get one game every month or so.
"At Newcastle maybe I have found the crowd a bit more supportive. It is encouraging and maybe that is what I need at this time in my career. Of course I have confidence in my own ability but I feel that the crowd have that confidence too, it is just different.
"They are absolutely fantastic - at Nottingham Forest they went in such big numbers, against Blackburn at home they were special too.
"In town you see hundreds of people wearing the jersey throughout the week, not just on match days. It is great and for the players, of course it helps to have support rather than criticism."
