New York Red Bulls defender Tim Ream is reportedly very close to joining Premier League club Bolton Wanderers.
Reports suggest that the 24-year old and his agent are going through the process with Bolton of acquiring a work permit on appeal as he does not fit into the criteria of playing 75% of USA national team games over the past two years to be awarded a non-EU visa.
"Negotiations between Major League Soccer and Bolton are at an advanced stage and ongoing," Ream's agent, Patrick McCabe told Goal.com. "We hope to have a positive resolution for Tim in the next few days."
It is believed that Bolton are prepared to pay around $3million to MLS for Ream's rights as manager Owen Coyle seeks a replacement for the impending departure of Gary Cahill.
