New York Red Bull will send midfielder Victor Palsson on loan to Dutch club NEC Nijmegen according to reports.
The 21-year old Icelandic defensive mid has struggled for game time with the Red Bulls and will now further his development in the Dutch Eredivisie.
New York head coach Hans Backe feels it is important for the former Liverpool and Hibernian man to get regular game time in order to help him improve in a first team environment.
"It's just getting games, competitive minutes. He's been on the bench for us, only 21-years-old; he's a talented player but being in bench the discussion came up, and it was quite easy," said Backe.
"It's been tough for him to get in and get minutes as a starter. Nothing will happen if he just sits on the bench and plays very few reserve games in this league."
