NYRB's Conde set to return against former club Chicago Fire

New York Red Bull defender Wilman Conde is set to return to MLS action on the weekend for the first time since March.

The Colombian defender, who joined the Red Bulls prior to the 2012 season, has returned with a couple of decent performances in the US Open Cup recently but is likely to play in the league on Sunday when New York travel to his former club Chicago Fire.

Conde left the Fire on bitter terms in 2010 but is looking forward to getting back to playing in front of the Chicago fans who treated him so well during this time at Toyota Park.

"I'm happy to go back. I left behind very good friends in Chicago, including Marco Pappa, and I got along real well with the fans," Conde told the NY Post.

"The situation with Chicago may not have ended in the best manner due to internal matters. But I'm very happy to go back and to play if I can and enjoy the match."

He added: "I feel really good. Since returning to practice a month ago, I feel fully recovered from injuries, knocks and pain.

"Now I'm just focused on playing and getting as many minutes as possible."
