NYRB's Cahill, Palace skipper Jedinak among Osieck's Socceroos squad

Holger Osieck has named his 26-man Australia squad for upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

The Socceroos meet group leaders Japan in Saitama on June 4 followed by the visit of Jordan to Melbourne on June 11 and Iraq to Sydney on June 18 with Osieck naming a roster predominantly made up of players from overseas clubs.

Captain Lucas Neill returns from injury and will join New York Red Bulls star Tim Cahill, Crystal Palace captain Mile Jedinak, Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer and Aston Villa midfielder Brett Holman.

Also back in the squad following various absences are Nagoya Grampus striker Josh Kennedy, Umm Salal defender Sasa Ognenovski and Borussia Dortmund's number two keeper Mitch Langerak who is yet to make his international debut.

Australia currently sits in third position in Group B of Asian qualifying on six points from five outings which sees them placed seven points behind Japan, one in arrears of second-placed Jordan and equal with Oman with all three of those sides having played once more than the Socceroos. Iraq hold up the group with five points from five outings.
